Zabs will not like to hear this but...

Our number one need is now OT

That does not mean we take a tackle at 32, but it changes the calculation

I say our first five picks are OT, DL, S, WR, TE

But I’m not seeing a need to reach for Dexter

I've actually been rethinking my DL approach as I've done 100 mock drafts on fanspeak.

TE is our biggest need, but that's just not practical unless TJ falls to the 20s. Barring that, we just can't upgrade there unless we trade down into the 2nd for Fant, Irv or Jace. BUt then, we only move from a C-/D+ to a B-.

I think Wynn can handle LT, but you have a point. We have a rookie LT coming off injury at one spot and a walking injury at the other. A really serviceable OT would be good, and one of Risner, Dillard or Cody Ford (if he can handle OT) should fall. Williams and Taylor will be gone, but I've seen first round grades on Risner and Ford. It wouldn't be a terrible selection at 32.

We just can't REACH for a position. Of course, if Hockensen is there at 32, you have to go for it. Not gunna happen.

If Wilkins or Ferrell or someone good is available at 32, you go for it.

If not, you have trade down and pick in bulk. BULK.

If we look at potential starters in 2020, we need to walk away with 6 positions with our picks in the top 101. It should be easy to find good starters at DT, OT, WR, S, DE in the first three rounds of this draft. We need to find one more.

Some TE will become available by early September too. I'm not that worried about it. I would love to trade up by giving away a 3rd next year as opposed to this year, but that's probably just not realistic.

Maybe 32, 2020 3rd rounder, 2019 4th rounder might get you into the high teens this year.

Phiferian Analysis

Players selected from 1-16 (expected starters on opening day)
Players selected from 17-32 (expected starters after the first 8 games)
Players selected in the 2nd round (significant playing time, but won't start in Year 1)
Players selected in the 3rd round (questionable!)

The guy that I'm most sure will end up on the Pats is Anthony Nelson.

Yeah, more than he's a thick edge setter and we're one of the few teams that wants an edge setter over an edge rusher. He''s not flashy, and he's the type that will just do his job.

Plus we need more depth at the position.

Plus he's slated to go off the board from somewhere to 40-60, and we're gonna be in that range.

But people have him all over the place.

PFF has him at 53.
Jeremiah doesn't have him at top 50.
Kyle Crabbs has him pegged as a 4th round talent.

If Dillard Taylor Williams Ford and Risner all get drafted one might become available like last year.
